Northwest Missouri State overcame a slow start offensively to take down Washburn 62-50 in Topeka, KS on Saturday.
The Bearcats (18-5, 12-5 MIAA) trailed 24-23 at halftime, but kicked it into gear in the second half. Northwest shot 48-percent (12-25) from the field in the final two quarters, and hit 11 of 12 foul shots in the fourth to seal the game.
Down four, the Bearcats went on a 12-0 run that stretched from the end of the third into the fourth quarter to jump in front. The Ichabods were held scoreless for nearly five minutes.
Caely Kesten put up 16 points while hitting four of six three-point attempts. She also had six rebounds.
Molly Hartnett matched Kesten with 16 points, and also dished four assists.
Jayna Green filled the stat sheet with nine points, a career-high seven blocks, five rebounds and two steals.
Northwest returns home Thursday to face Rogers State at 5:30pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 5pm.
