Northwest Missouri State University put on a dominant effort Wednesday in a 90-22 win over Kansas Christian College in the home opener for the women's basketball team.
The Bearcats (2-1) held an 11-6 advantage in the first quarter when they went on a 34-0 run to close out the first half. The Falcons were held scoreless for the entire second quarter, and didn't make a field goal for the final 15 minutes and 20 seconds of the first half.
The dominance continued in the third quarter as Northwest outscored KCC 20-6 in the period. The Falcons didn't reach double figures on the scoreboard until the 7:09 mark in the third quarter.
Kylie Coleman led all scorers with 18 points off the bench. She also grabbed five rebounds.
Zoie Hayward posted career-highs in points and assists, notching 17 and seven in each category, respectively, as well as six rebounds.
Jaelyn Haggard finished with a season-high 15 points, Paityn Rau scored 10, and Erika Scholsser recorded nine points, three rebounds, and seven assists.
As a team the Bearcats shot 53-percent from the field, and 47-percent from three-point range. Northwest's 18 made three-point field goals was one shy of tying the program record for a single-game, which was set in 2017.
Northwest plays at home again Sunday at 1:30pm against Maryville University. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 1pm.
